heres me yappin about albums i like :P i definitely think that if you're interested in anything dark cabaret/steampunk you should check these out
ill probably be adding to this
Jill Tracy-- quintessentially unreal
probably one of my favourite albums! i think jill tracy is really a rose among thorns; her lyrics are always so beautifully put together and unique and her piano melodies compliment them so well. overall i think her music has a very hauntingly beautiful sort of sophisticated feel to it.
songs on this album that stick out to me + some lyrics i like!!
* hour after hour
- "You live inside a clock
I feel your hands upon my face
Choking on the after taste of time"
* make it burn
- "An incandescent funeral pyre
Pyrotechnically inspired
They call it a fixation
Keep the matchbook closed
Little fix of friction
Combustion overdose"
* anything at all
- "I’ll grant you the nine of cups on eleven rainy days
I’ll pull apart the lion’s mouth and make him sing your praise
I’ll challenge the great Houdini to a remarkable escape
I’ll amputate the fingers upon the Hand of Fate
I’ll do anything at all
Just to get closer to you"
Sunday Driver-- in the city of dreadful night
i really love about sunday driver's use of a lot of different instruments that give them a beautifully unique sound; their music fuses english folk and classical Indian music and their band consists of a vocalist, tabla drummer, guitarist/sitarist, bassist, harpist/clarinetist/spoonist, and percussionist! i'm a big fan of the sitar especially. this band makes some suuper awesome stuff
songs on this album that stick out to me + some lyrics i like!!
* black spider
- " Stand in line. Step in time
Steady until the end
We will be fine. All will be mine
'Til the arachnid descends
Sleazy, slimy, creep up behind me
I know she'll win in the end
Until that day, Here I stay
Blindly?"
* naked bodies
- ((i love the piano in this one))
- "If I should die alone
In my bed at night
Close my eyes and
Never reveal my name..."
beats antique-- collide
oooohhh what a band- Zoe Jakes, David Satori and Tommy Cappel take influence from all kinds of old and new genres like; middle eastern belly dance music; down tempo; hiphop; old school jazz; afrofunk; and probably some more. they do a whole lot of awesome live performances
like this one!!
Roger fojas of lucent dossier(and panic!) has worked with these guys a few times !!
songs on this album that stick out to me!!! ((..minus the lyrics because its instrumental))
* beauty beats
* dope crunk
* slapdash era
* milieu
thats all 4 now!! if u do check any of these out pls lmk bc i could probably talk abt these artists for aages
