seems like there are a lot of anime fans on here

i used to LOVE anime when i was younger, but holy fuck it has gone downhill imo. 
i tried watching dungeon meshi the other day, and dont get me wrong it looks like a good series but i legitimately just couldnt finish it. the manga is probably better tbf.
its the exaggerated mannerisms, like that weird choking sound they make to express speechlessness and the way everyone overreacts to everything. so sooo fucking grating, i really just couldnt stand it. not to mention the obligatory perviness (which, to be fair, wasnt that bad in dungeon meshi)
like yeah anime has always been sorta horny and youve always had to sorta overlook the... uh... japanese sensibility... but atleast back in the day it was supposed to, idk, be sexy to normal people ig? now its like its only there for the gratification of the vilest kind of otaku. eugh.

another big part of it has to be the rise of digital animation. not that its an inferior method, people can and do make amazing stuff digitally; its just an easier method (ie, you dont have to hire artists with actual skill and talent anymore, you can just churn out schlock and still turn a profit)
maaan, the way they used to animate light, the richness of colour you got from using actual physical inks, etc. it all seems so soulless to me now (TnT)
like, you can almost even sense how little fun the animators were having while making it nowadays. back then you could actually feel the camaraderie and inside jokes of the animating team, it bled through into their work. theres none of that now. its like theyre trying to approximate that, but it just comes off as artificial imo.
a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy always loses quality each time. sigh
steins;gate and attack on titan are probably the only decent post-2010 anime ive seen tbqfh.

advice to all you younguns: even the shittiest anime from the 80s and 90s is significantly better than a lot of the 'best' anime produced today. go on youtube and type in 'ova 80s' and youll find some gems. also the men actually look like men instead of women with deep voices, and the women look like women instead of children with tits.
