hai. rambling about dolls + layouts i guess

the other day i went to a thrift store and went a little crazy (or however crazy 20 dollars is worth) but my favorite finds are probably two dolls that.. arent necessarily cursed but they spoke to me in the same way a clearly cursed doll would. idk very much about doll restoration/care/customization but i wanted to at least clean these two up...

the first doll im calling Latvia. judging by how she feels im guessing shes plastic. what im guessing is her brand is imposed on her back, implying shes a vogue doll from 1972 and was made in hong kong (also theres a 3 imposed at the bottom? idk what that means </3). her hair and clothes are a mess from her laying on her back for however long in the store, and i think she cost 25 cents at one point due to a ".25" written on her foot (i got her for 99 cents if it matters...). she also came with bloomers and a petticoat that don't fit very well and her dress isnt in much better condition... i kind of want to refurbish the dress though because its kind of cute. she also has a lazy eye and some stains on her face.

the second doll i dont have a name for... shes very beautiful though. what drew me in was her eyes; theyre shaped in an interesting way, almost seeming sad. im not well versed in eye shapes so i dont know exactly how to describe them but the shape + lid combination is very unique to me. i think shes a mix of porcelain (since i can hear porcelain grinding sometimes when i move her) and plush + stuffing. shes in a bit of a better condition than latvia but i do want to fix up her hair at least. she has a little "bonnet" tied in place with a ribbon, and a rather simple dress with a red vest + red and white patterned apron sewn on. she also has bloomers but she also gets socks and shoes (latvia is barefoot unfortunately... i hope to change that but idk if id be able to make shoes for her), but whats interesting to me is it feels like the larger doll has wires in her limbs (the central extremities are stuffed, the outer extremities are porcelain) for posing? shes very stiff though so i'll have to investigate that. she didnt have any trademarks printed on her but her dress has a tag saying "World Bazaars Inc." among other things.

ill investigate these dolls' companies and see if i can find any more information about them.

also as a heads up im going to try to fiddle around with my layout today :)

Funnily enough, the doll you're gonna call Latvia, is actually a country! I know that since I'm from it HAHA!
