Urban Exploring & Lack of 3rd Spaces.

What's the appeal of Urban exploring? Unsupervised abandoned areas, lack of thirds spaces or places. The youth don't have any place to go unless you have to spend money espcially here in the states. 

There maybe a connection somehow, I would like to hear everyones thoughts or nuances here.
