Report Blog Entry
Today is my first day on spacehey, and I'm feeling really nostalgic and hopeful. I almost feel like it's 2005 and I'm looking at the profiles of people I wish i had the courage to talk to at school. I feel like I could discover my next new favorite band on any profile now (i did discover my fave musician because of myspace). And it's making me feel like I have something to say.
I'm not a very social person offline, and I feel really bad about it. Honestly I want to engage with local people, I want to have friends that I can hang out with irl. I miss being able to meet up for coffee or a walk along the river or something. But I just don't know how to meet people nearby, I end up thinking of them as just acquaintances when I do, and I'm usually just too lazy to meet up anyway.
I don't consider myself a lonely person; I live with my husband, who is my best friend, and my little cat who hangs out with me all the time. But at the same time I know I am very lonely. I moved to london 3 years ago during lockdown and other than a handful of people I've met by chance (always way more outgoing than me, so in some ways not very similar) and some of my husband's classmates I haven't really met anyone, and most of them aren't nearby. My best friends and family are all back home in nyc.
I think that maybe making online friends is more realistic (or maybe is also impossible, who knows). I don't mind talking to people that I will never see (probably- i did meet a twitter friend once) about new music or books or anything. I miss getting recs and connecting with people across the miles, too.
So yeah i don't know if anyone will read this but if you do-
- do you like making/receiving mix tapes?
- do you like chatting while playing video games?
- do you want to gush about a book/hobby/project?
I'd like to hear from you (: I guess look at my profile to see my interests and see if we could get along.

absolutely! problem is im very anxious about sharing my main project so maybe we talk a little first :3

-- since we don't use cassettes anymore, it's just a playlist or CD (probably young people don't use CDs anymore either heh) that you give to your friends/someone you are romantically interested in, to share music you love that you want them to hear. Also it was used by aspiring musicians to share their new music- now I see people on the street hand out a paper with a link or QR code which is lol but they used to hand you a tape or CD

-- me too, i'm on discord a lot because that is how my friends and I play D&D since we no longer live near each other. I need a new headset though because the soft part of the ear cushion disintegrated on my old ones...
