A Realization

I was looking through ‘Puck’ today, which is an old political magazine, and it was like I re-discovered humanity. It was full of life and jokes and cheeky comics and political cartoons. They were complaining about the police and restrictions and the good old days and those darn young people with their tight pants and bad cigarettes and I saw my world in it, even though it was written 143 years in the past. I was introduced to the term ‘The Unsalted’ which was what the tight pant wearing and bad cigarette smoking youths were called. I was shocked to find this, this feud between the old and the young that has been happening for generations, even though I knew that this has been happening for generations, and I was shocked to find a term that I had never heard of, I might be the first person to learn that term in years. Years ago, things used to just be forgotten and lost, like these random articles from a magazine written in 1881, but now everything is preserved in some way, right? Or will most of us be forgot it the same way, waiting for some random kid to look through something written about us in 150 years time?
