What is progressivism and what is its relationship with the three principles of social justice? Progressivism is when one embraces social reform for the sake of the greater good and observes the world from a non-essentialist perspective. A person who genuinely holds this point of view to be the truth is called a progressive. They understand that humans are not intrinsically inclined to do harm to others and that wanting to harm others is a learned behavior and advocate for decisions to be made in society that encourage communal harmony. A progressive does this by embracing the three principles of social justice.
What are the three principles of social justice? The three principles of social justice are a collection of three principles that exist specifically for that harmony to prevail. What are those three principles?
- Principle 1: All beings have a right to be different.
- Principle 2: All beings have a right to the same personal freedoms as each other.
- Principle 3: All beings have a right to be free from pain and suffering.
Okay, so we understand what those principles are. But how would those principles work in practice? Here’s how. Say, for the sake of argument, that a bunch of aliens travelled in a spaceship to Earth. They like the Earth, as they find it strikingly similar to their own home. So they decide to buy a home from a real-estate agent.
To deny housing to them would be both unethical and immoral in many different ways, not least of which is because they violate the very three principles mentioned above. Denying housing violates the first principle because the aliens are being rejected from social consideration merely for being aliens. It also violates the second principle because it prevents aliens from having the same personal freedom to live in a house that a human would have. And it violates the third principle because being denied housing can lead to homelessness and homelessness can be a very painful experience that involves suffering. When a real-estate agent who understands these principles chooses to abide by them, they are being progressive in this situation. To reject these principles would be bigotry.

Poor people who are continuing to live in poverty when there are solutions that exist to get them out of poverty would absolutely be missing out on these three principles. In fact, poverty itself can be a symptom of discrimination. Just look at Palestine, for example. People there were living in poverty for years before the Israeli Defense Forces started to commit genocide against them. Just so you know, I do not speak Spanish and can understand you only because of a translator. So try to communicate with me in English if you can.

To answer your questions on where I’m going and what I want to do with my point, I’m arguing that to be treated humanely when others can see your differences is a reasonable expectation to have. Genocide is wrong. Keeping people in poverty is wrong. Learning to dehumanize another human being is one of the worst things that a person can do. It can rob a man of his own morality.

We need to be above discrimination and above dehumanization. Only then can we truly have a right to deem ourselves as a good society. Anything less is only a pretense. A pretense that can easily be shed at any time.

Hm, but those aliens would have other technologies and possibilities with which they could take over entire markets. The drive technology alone would be revolutionized by them. Weapon systems too, perhaps, or mind control systems etc... so they could accumulate a lot of wealth in a very short time and take over entire markets and even subjugate states. I don't think this is about a house. that's too small and too short-sighted for me.
But if it would be about foreigners, like a dutch guy who wants a house in portugal, then the example is appropriate but with aliens you can't use the example i think because the consequences would just be much more extensive than that they would just have a house and go to work normally on the assembly line or where do they get the money for the house? etc.... :P :D lol...

What if the only reason humans are able to make contact with aliens is not because the aliens have advanced technology that allows them to make contact with us but because we humans have advanced technology that allows us to make contact with them? I know that most science fiction depicts aliens as being more technologically advanced than humans, but my example here was intended for a scenario where the power dynamics have been flipped.

Hm, but how do they come to us on earth? Do we import them, so to speak? :P :D
Because if they were less developed, we would exploit and keep them as a slave race. We would say they come from a third world planet and give them service jobs at a minimum wage. Of course there will be a few exceptions, but in general I see that as much more problematic than if they were highly developed...
But only because all our governments around the world are already corrupt and exploit and sell everything they can for their plans a one world governement... hm... :)

Come to think of it, that is exactly how the Galactic Empire treated aliens in “Star Wars.” The Hutts were merchants who occasionally engaged in criminal activity, the Chiss were near-human aristocrats who still had less power than actual humans, and the Wookiees were literal slaves. In theory, such an order would be possible to run. The Emperor Sheev Palpatine did manage to maintain high levels of control over the galaxy for a long time before the Empire was ultimately replaced by the New Republic in both the old and new story continuities.

Until the new republic was again infiltrated by the dark side... I think it is very unlikely that things will turn out differently, due to our current global state and level of consciousness. As long as we are ruled by the money that a small clique controls and issues, the game will always end up with similar results. Just like the board game monopoly where they would just add a few planetary roads for purchase on the board... But that's just my personal opinion. I think we're going through very dark times now, only to see the light at the end of the tunnel through even darker times... to apply this to the current crisis. I think there's no way around it, unfortunately :/
Humanity is gathering experience through suffering and pain, unfortunately. And after all, the rulers want to conjure up their new messiah. A world government, a world currency, a world court... all states have to be dissolved, every currency crashed and no one is allowed to trust a judge any more.... then THEY come up with their great solutions, the crowd cheers and everyone is happy again until it crashes because such crap can't work in the long run. But as I said that's just my opinion and sorry that I slipped so much from the topic into reality at the end :D lol...

What exactly is this “small clique” and “new messiah” that you speak of?

Hm, I notice you apparently only consume mainstream media? I think explaining this would go far beyond the scope of this discussion, but I recommend you to watch this video about the monetary system and how money is created, then you will at least understand the clique (or group) that controls the monetary system. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHq6LhHupOg

I’ve watched a mixture of “mainstream” and “alternative” media throughout my history of using the internet. In fact, having “mainstream” ideas is kind of a new thing for me. Take a look at this blog post that I wrote and maybe you’ll understand exactly where I’m coming from. https://blog.spacehey.com/entry?id=1113042

We should work together. We need to get as many people out of the Right’s grip as much as we can. Hopefully, Spacehey will never become overrun with fascists like Twitter.
