Low self-esteem often begins in childhood. Our teachers, friends, siblings, parents, and even the media send us positive and negative messages about ourselves.

For some reason, the message that you are not good enough is the one that stays with you.

What is assertiveness?

Assertiveness is a healthy way of communicating. It's the ability to speak up for ourselves in a way that is honest and respectful.

How can you behave in an assertive way?
Do you voice your opinions or remain silent?
An assertive person is emotionally honest, direct, self-enhancing, and expressive. He/she feels confident, self-respecting at the time of his/her actions as well as later. Assertive Body Language: Stand straight, steady, and directly face the people to whom you are speaking while maintaining eye contact.
