On February 8 of 2024, gender-expansive teen Nex Benedict was brutally beaten in the girl’s restroom at Owasso High School. The beating left Nex with wounds on their face and eyes as well as scratches on their head. The school did nothing for Nex.
Almost every news outlet explains that Nex Benedict didn’t die because of the beating. This makes no sense at all, and proves that the media as well as government and police officials will do anything that they can to protect cisgender and heterosexual criminals in America.
The Owasso school administration did nothing to help Nex’s critical condition after being beaten. They didn’t call the police, or even the ambulance for that matter. Not only that, the straight A-Student was suspended from school for two whole weeks. The following day, Nex collapsed in their family’s living room, stopped breathing, and was pronounced dead when EMT’s had finally arrived.
According to The Trevor Project, around 6% of students who identify as cisgender feel unsafe while going to school. Meanwhile, for transgender students, the number is more than doubled, standing at 27%. Nearly 45% of transgender students have considered attempting suicide, with 14% of them actually attempting.
This isn’t the first time a trans teen has been killed or even beaten. It’s pretty clear that the United States of America DOES NOT CARE FOR THEIR LGBTQ CITIZENS!!! Why should we care for them? Why should LGBTQ+ people care about cisgender and heterosexual people? They shouldn’t. Hundreds of anti-trans laws and bills have been passed these past few years, preventing trans people from using their preferred bathroom in public spaces, getting gender-affirming healthcare, and more.
We should not have to suffer for existing. Nex Benedict did nothing to deserve the brutal death that they suffered. No one should experience such an early death. We have suffered for far too long.
When will the LGBTQ+ community finally snap? Will this finally be our last straw? Too many of us have died and suffered for simply being alive, bothering no one. We want a revolution and we want it now, so listen up bigots:
AN ATTACK ON ONE OF US IS AN ATTACK ON ALL OF US - A QUEER NATION WARNING.
UNDERSTAND:
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO STAND UP FOR YOURSELF.
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO OPPOSE THOSE WHO STAND AGAINST YOU.
WE HAVE BEEN SILENCED FOR FAR TOO LONG. WHEN WILL IT BE ENOUGH?
HOW MANY CHILDREN HAVE TO BE KILLED FOR THEM TO START CARING???
