[First blog!]
Okay, so everybody knows the “princess of pop”, aka Britney Spears, right? If not, I’ll give a brief summary of who she is. Britney Spears was as her nickname suggests, was a pop icon, at least in the early 2000’s. She sang iconic songs like Toxic, Womanizer (one of my favorites), Piece Of Me, Oops.. I Did It Again, and Baby One More Time. She also had a relationship with pop star Justin Timberlake. They dated between 1999 to 2002, and let’s just say their relationship was not the best. (Justin Timberlake came out with a song in 2002 titled “Cry Me A River”, shading Britney Spears). But, if you’re still unsure who the Miss Britney Spears is, she was also known for being in a thirteen year conservatorship lasting between the years of 2008 and 2021. Her father had full control over everything she did, but that’s not the cruelest part of it. The harshest part of it is that her mother and sister were aware of this whole conservatorship situation and yet over all those years, neither of them tried helping Britney out of the situation, though thankfully after all those years Britney finally had a chance to go to court and speak her case, and won and was put out of the conservatorship, and still then she’s been taking a break from making music, though on October 24th, 2023, Britney Spears came out with a book titled “The Woman In Me”, a memoir about her ups and downs of being “The Princess of Pop” that I definitely recommend reading if you want to know more details about what happened behind the scenes of the conservatorship. But anyways, now that you have more details of who she is, I think I’m a new fiend of hers. I say this because beginning of 2022 to 2023 (a little before her book came out), I began hearing her songs again (her top hits) or even some songs of Britney’s that I’ve never heard of before like Get Back from her album Blackout (my favorite album of all time now). I began listening to her whole Blackout album, I watched a documentary about her life, though mostly about the conservatorship (before her book came out with more details), began listening to more of her songs that I’ve never heard of, and keeping up with her shorts on YouTube about her upcoming book. I’ve always loved Britney’s top hits as a kid, but since neither my father or sister were really interested in her music even her top hits, I eventually forgot about her music and never really tried to find other songs by her until a couple years ago. It’s just weird, but not completely new to someone like me. I’m just a person who wants finds something even a little interesting I become fully invested with it and begin all kinds of research revolving it even if I should be focusing on more important things like school. (An example of something I’ve became obsessed with after watching a video about it is a video game titled The Suicide of Rachel Foster, which by the way, I’m still obsessed with til this day).
Anyways, that’s all! I hope whoever reads this liked this blog, and sorry for it being so long, but just felt like typing and talking about her (Britney Spears) since I feel like a lot of people aren’t up to date with it and it’s just sad.
