ugh im a first gen immigrant from Guatemala so Spanish is my first language but I've been living in the US since I was 7 (I'm about to turn 18 in the summer) and I only speak it at home so I've low-key been forgetting how to truly converse in it other than with my parents :c

im super thankful for the opportunity my parents have given me especially since I'm a citizen but I feel like im whitewashed since I prefer myself with paler skin (that might just be an emo moment), I don't like spicy food, and im kind of out of touch with my culture. I wanna have more Spanish speaking friends to practice slang with and stuff but id need to learn to make friends first so...

my boyfriends Mexican and he speaks Spanish but we say enough words differently for us to fluently communicate. we do talk in Spanish to each other but its always only a few sentences, never a full conversation
