Movie Review #2 Starship Troopers

Much like My Bloody Valentine, Starship Troopers did poorly in the box office due to time of its release and outside factors such as viewers considering the movie a promotion of fascist ideals. The directors own words is that the movie is a satirical take on fascist ideals. The attack on Buenos Aires being a falseflag, the propaganda throughout the movie, the society of the world in Starship Troopers being peoples proof that its meant to saterize fascism in the light of being potrayed how fascist propaganda would be made and viewed.

I personally do not see this as the case. No where is it being satirical nor making any actual meaningful commentary on fascism. The director failed to even make there message clear in any sort of light. Throughout the movie I see a great sci fi war story like Jarhead or Saving Private Ryan would be. The movie is far better after having been in bootcamp myself and understanding the culture that goes on in the barracks of the movie. This is the most enjoyable method of viewing the movie as anything else will just prove to ruin the experience and divide people.

On top of all that, the claim that the world of Starship troopers is fascistic makes 0 sense. A black woman replaces a white man when his mission fails and the state owns up to the failure, the news of losses is actually overreported instead of covered up, men and women are equal in society and shower together and serve together and sleep in the same barracks together. The equality in the world of Starship Troopers is nothing like that youd find in a fascistic society. A meritocracy based society of Starship Troopers appears to also work highly well with clean streets and safe neighborhoods displayed frequently. Any claim that this movie is to saterize fascism should be laughed at in the sense that its a misunderstand of what fascism is and actually promote fascism in itself. Any normal person viewing it after hearing that would find that even when made fun of, a fascist world looks promising. This is the opposite message that should be encouraged. Many other medias do the whole thing far better.

As for anyone that would defend the bugs as Ive noticed on social media, the bugs quite literally slurp brains and thats not very nice! =(
