My bike pedals keep destroying my clothes and should I get rid of my car?

So, I've been riding a lot to the gym. I rode to the gym today and then after the gym I rode to the library to return a book. I'm so excited to just ride my bike everywhere. Like just even to the grocery store. I'm starting earlier than I have in the past, so I'm hoping this will just put me in such a good spot when summer officially starts. The first day of spring is in twenty-eight days and spring where I live is superrrrr windy. I actually just looked up "The Windiest States in Order" and of course my state was in the top five. It makes it tough to start riding earlier in enough to be in a good spot for races but starting around town at least is getting me used to the wind. Obviously in town is different than riding out in the country where there are no buildings to block the wind. The only issue I've been having is that my leggings keep getting caught on my pedals and now I have holes in my calves on three different pairs of leggings. I'm thinking of just putting patches on them where they obviously keep getting caught because I'm done buying new leggings over and over again. I'm going to look into what I can do. I also have my bike basket coming in tomorrow, so I'm super excited about that. Today I adjusted my car insurance to a lower payment amount because I just never drive. I kind of want to bike and get rid of my car completely, but I do need my car for some things. Maybe one day my boyfriend and I can just get down to one car, but for now I'm just going to see how this year goes trying to avoid driving. He says I should get a second bike. One bike would be for gravel, fast riding, and racing and the second bike would be a commuter, snow, and bikepacking. I'd be cool with this, I just need to make it happen.
