need help with a dvd rom issue

a bit more than a week ago i got "Ghostbusters: The Video Game" for PC from the thrift store and have been struggling to get it correctly installed, and only now have I actually discovered the exact problem

in my first attempt to install the game, it installed into my C:/ drive just fine, but i couldnt figure out how to actually run it, it showed up in my applications i just didnt know how to open it. in an attempt to find an answer online i got an answer to try and do a custom installation instead of the default one, and had to delete the game to do so. in my attempt to install somewhere else, i made a file in the D:/ (data) drive because it couldn't install directly into another drive and needed a folder.

instead of installing the game and me not being able to open it, the install wizard constantly told me that it was "interrupted" before it could finish the game, so i deleted whatever unfinished game files it left behind. i tried to go back and do the easy installation but it still said the interruption statement and for a few days i was just rerunning it hoping something would happen differently, until today

turns out, when i created that folder in my D:/ drive so that it could install elsewhere, somehow, even after deleting the folder after the first failed attempt, any easy installation i did after would create its own folder titled the same thing in my same D:/ drive, and ive been trying to somehow reset the dvd so the easy installation would go back to going into the C:/ drive like before,  but even when i try to edit the custom installment so it could install directly into it, it gave an illegal directory error

anyone who might have any computer knowledge i could really use some help to get this working cause ive been dying to play it,

(as extra info im going to attempt to install it into my C:/ in a folder in the same manner i did for my D:/ and ill get back to you how that turned out)
