Alright, another week done.
This past Sunday was the Superbowl, but I didn't watch it :/
On Monday, WebDev club was canceled soon after I arrived in the meeting room. On my way back, I saw this huge swarm of people in the dark. I'm pretty sure they were doing some sort of university-affiliated event, but seeing such a crowd of people in the dark like that is kind of scary. On Tuesday I took the first part of my computing exam. It went okay, though I and many others struggled to implement an input for our code. I also enjoyed a residence hall event with chocolate-covered strawberries and Shirley Temples. Wednesday was Valentine's Day. One thing I will say is that holidays on college campuses hit different. I've never seen so many people wearing red at my school. Wednesday night I met up with my boyfriend to exchange chocolates.
On Thursday I attended an event hosted by an inclusivity organization I'm a part of. We learned some career development skills and I talked with the president of the WebDev club and a friend of his (I think). The president had to leave, but the friend stayed. I chatted with him, and he's a computer science major too. He was quite interesting to talk to and he asked me if I was going to be at any other events. I said yes, of course. (If you want to be considered for the scholarship, you need to attend these events.) Clearly, he's interested in me, which is the unfortunate thing about being a girl in computer science. If you approach a guy they're more likely to think that you're into them.
Earlier on Thursday I received the news that I won second place for this logo competition I entered! My department even congratulated me. On Friday my biology class got cancelled and my history class was a drag. I was feeling pretty gray that morning, but I found myself ecstatic that afternoon. That was a really good thing too, since I went on a date later that night.
Yesterday I volunteered to help with an event. I was assigned to a station where kids built paper towers. Before we got started, I was with some fellow members who said I "could join in". I asked, "Join in what?" They were talking about the conversation. Geez, I feel so out of it sometimes. I've been trying to mitigate my brain fog, but nothing seems to work. I need to talk to people more. On Thursday there was this block party event I could've gone to but I decided against it because I was nervous.
I haven't done much yet today, and I'll likely just do some chores and get ahead on any work I need to finish. Also, I have less than two weeks until Spring Break. I'm excited to spend a little bit of time off-campus, but I also have to worry about two exams. In addition, my family will be working so I won't be able to travel with them. It seems like everyone else has plans and is going somewhere super cool! I'm so jealous...
Anyway, hopefully, this week brings good things.
Tchau,
