My Thoughts On Comfort Ships (+ a little bit of ship analysis)

Casually getting back into Sk8 The Infinity once again (I keep randomly rewatching it like months in between) and I'm just now starting to realize that MachaBlossom is. One of my biggest comfort ships ever. It's actually insane how they manage to be so chaotic yet feel so safe at the same time?? I don't really understand it.

The only other comfort ship I have (I think) is KomaHina, and that's mainly because of how much they both want to understand each other, even if it's just in a platonic way. Hajime just wants to reach a point where he doesn't have to second guess what Nagito might do, say, or even feel. I'm probably just projecting way too hard onto Hajime (as per usual), but it feels like he just wants the comfort of understanding someone on such a level that you don't have to doubt them or their actions. That seems like something he'd value in any kind of relationship, whether platonic or romantic. After all, a mutual understanding can make or break any pair.

I suppose that gets me back onto the topic of MachaBlossom. Cherry and Joe really know each other, which is a given since they've been friends since forever. They already have the level of understanding that Hajime wants to achieve with Nagito, so they're even more of a comfort ship than KomaHina for me. They get each other, they know when the other needs them, and they trust each other (even though they argue like no one's business lmao). Despite all their petty fights, they'll be there for each other. And that's something that I find a lot of comfort in.
