OC Lore!

Hi there! due to the fact that I have a lot to talk about I'll post the drawings for each character another day. Also this is mostly the tl:dr version because the game takes place from Jane's perspective and she doesn't really know that much about her parent's past. (she'll learn soon enough)

These characters are specifically for the game I'm working on. The title is a work in progress but I'll use "Jane's Nature Walk" for now, thanks to it's simplicity.

The World:

This story takes place in the year 2002, following a small family who live in a cabin. This cabin is relatively secluded thanks to the massive surrounding forest. Due to this separation, Jane has a fascination with nature in general and adores exploring it!

Characters:

Jane Kidmann: Our main character! Jane's is your typical curious 7 year old, she lives in a cabin with her mother and father. Jane has a natural curiosity whenever nature is involved and will often wander into the wood with her mom or dad and bombard them with questions. They try their best to answer these questions but something "it's magic!'' is the best answer

Annie Kidmann: Jane's mother, a war veteran who isn't shaken easily. Annie didn't have the best parents growing up so she's determined to be the mother that she never had to Jane. She's the main-money maker of the house, she usually goes out to work during Jane's homeschooling but she is mostly in charge of cleaning up the house. She does her best to answer any questions that Jane has

Simon Kidmann: Jane's father, Jane doesn't know what his previous job was but she isn't really interested (she guesses he must've been a super spy, if he's so against talking about it) Simon stays at home with Jane and helps with her homeschooling, he mostly cooks and is mostly in charge of answering any questions that Jane has. Due to this, Jane has a slight bias towards her dad over her (but she finds it a little embarrassing how emotional he can get when watching a movie) ((he actually sobbed into Annie's chest when watching Watership Down as Annie tried her hardest to not laugh))

Dynamics:

Jane & Annie: They have a very positive bond, while Jane does have a slight bias towards her father she still adores her mother. Jane looks up to her mother and is awed by her strength (She once chopped down a tree in two swings for Christmas) Annie loves her daughter with everything she has, while she isn't as educated on nature like her husband is, she'll still go out of her way to make sure that Jane is having a good time

Jane & Simon: Jane thinks her father is a mega genius, while she looks up to her mother for her brawn, she looks up to her father for his brain. Simon adores his daughter, he always goes the extra mile for her whether it's with homework or a new recipe she wants to try he'll always put his all into it.

Annie & Simon: Jane doesn't know much about her parents past, but she knows that they don't act like the parents on TV. Instead of grand gestures of love or weird comments (whenever she asks what the people on TV mean her parents usually giggle and say "you'll learn when your older") her parents usually just cuddle on the couch or lie on each others shoulders with soft smiles. Jane doesn't really get it but if they're happy that's all that really matters
