music recs 2 - naturality
genres r fake, here's some naturality music
(all these songs are from albums i love so if u like the song, listen to the album (maybe this is obvious and i didn't need to say it but i wanna say it anyway))
1. pangaea girls (magic feeling)
this one is really nice and i like it
the master is very crunchy and compressed so it might be a bit stimmy for some people but it's rly nice if that's not an issue for u
i jus love how the melodies weave in and out n the whole sound of the album is simultaneously so thick and so light
feels like flowers, great band
2. black country, new road - the boy
this band r so good at telling stories and this is the perfect example of that fact
i was a bit wary going into this album bc the old lead vocalist stopped making music with the band. i thought it was gonna be an instrumental album, but it is not. in fact, there's now three lead vocalists, and they're all incredible.
this song, written and led by may kershaw, is a great intro to the band n i love it.
also there is a prominent robin in the story so im biased sorry
<3. carole king - i feel the earth move
this song gets me walkin so good
carole king is the kind of artist both me and my dad can enjoy to similar extents, but he will use her excellence to demonstrate that modern music is worse. i like modern music (see all the other recs)
big sounds good for movin ur body to (some will dance but i will walk*)
i really don't know what naturality means but this fits and i will not show my working out
*(ok fine i will also dance since u asked so nicely)
4. cavetown - del mar county fair 2008
i imagine most ppl here are at least aware of cavetown, but this being a cover of an underscores song (other rec below) and being a cover, a lotta ppl prolly haven't heard it.
it's very good and also his new(est) album is very underscores inspired and im glad he kinda gave omage to her with this, and this verson feels so soft n nice but the first verse still f_cks me up
also i didn't rly like maxwell young's verse on the og and here this is no longer there so i prefer this version. im sorry maxwell im just being honest i feel really bad im so sorry maxwell :(
5. oklou - galore (a.g. cook remix)
i have no idea how cook has the patience to make his production so intricately detailed and sweet and awesome. like come on those glidey autotuned vocals are gorgeous (!!)
also oklou is another incredible songwriter i wish i was her bc then i would make better music but i would prolly wanna be someone else then bc the chronic is always greener ig
listen to everything oklou has ever released, it's all awesome.
also don't be put off by this being a remix, most of the time i forget its not the og
6. underscores - good luck final girl
feels like such a happy song at first but the rest of the album (and the second half of this song) really makes it feel terrifying.
definitely listen to the rest of the album if u are ok with feeling psychologically uncomfy to the extent that you will cry every time u listen to it.
listen to her other stuff if that's not ur vibe.
i rly wanted to put some underscores on here and maybe this album was not the album to use as the example

7. big thief - forgotten eyes
the themes of these songs r very quickly getting very dark ._.
adrienne lenker is very good at making me cry and also making me want to help ppl
don't wanna talk too much abt this one, pls just listen to it. do it as a favour for me, i really want u to understand why i love this song so much and why it is currently making me cry.
