Fly Octo Fly from the Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion DLC (youtube link) is today’s song of the day… I know that seems like a weird choice but believe me when I say this song is genuinely so good. Before I even played the DLC I still loved it. It’s so happy and :3 It’s very catchy, but has extra layers of appreciation when you do play the DLC. The song contains 2 main leitmotifs, 1 that’s present in a lot of octoling-centered songs for the franchise’s soundtrack, and the other that plays when you beat a level. The chords in this song man. THE FUCKING CHORDS!!!! They’re so unique and almost heavenly in a way, and those characteristics play into the emotions you feel at the moment when this song plays in the game to create one whole experience that is the ending of the incredible DLC and it’s all fucking awesome. the song’s also just catchy as hell htg
The alternative sotd is NEW MAGIC WAND by Tyler, The Creator. SIGHHH this album is just so good, but this song specifically is similar to the first sotd in that it also has an interesting choice in chords, and the synth used to express that in the song works with said chords very well. The progression of this song is just structured SO good, and as always tyler has banger lyrics sigh
