Candlelight (a sappy poem)

(I posted this on my bulletins but I thought it's probs better to have it in my blog too lol, I don't write too often but I hope you like it!)

By candlelight I sit and think,

Like Icarus transfixed,

The pondering of what could be,

My judgement eclipsed.

How do they yearn so softly?

Mutual serenity,

A heart for a heart,

A lovely simplicity.

It’s something I strive to,

Something I ache for,

For someone to want me,

For someone to crave more.

Is that pathetic?

Seeking a deeper validation,

Not a fleeting comment-

But a lasting adoration.

If you could show me that truly,

I’d return it in whole,

Shed my skin and bones for you,

My song and soul.

Would you tell me first?

Would you cross that sea?

So I could warm you up to dry,

Would you do that for me?

By candlelight I sit and think,

Of endless possibilities,

Yet I’m merely pondering,

Of hazy probabilities.
