Medical Mystery for Ya to Solve.

So.

For the last year I've been having issues with my body. I've talked to my regular doctor, had an endoscopy done, even had a pysch consult to see if it was all in my head (it's not).

It's not terrible or life threatening (I hope), but damn, after a year I'd love to know what's going on.

I'm a white male in my 60's, mostly good health otherwise. I smoke cannabis daily, averaging 1.5 grams a day. This helps with my past issues of anxiety and depression. I don't think it's a factor but I'm keeping an open mind on it. No other drugs except a vitamin D daily and acetaminophen as needed for headaches or arthritis.

I live alone with a cat and a dog. No allergies to either, or to anything that I know of. Oh, except for Effexor and Zoloft, I know I'm allergic to those.

So.

Over a year ago I started puking at night. Or having the dry heaves. (I try not to eat or drink after 6pm to help the tummy) After a few months it changed somewhat to episodes of chills, gooseflesh all over, then the puking or trying to. I had an endoscopy, they didn't find anything that could cause it.

Most of last spring it was pretty active. I'd started having these episodes during the day as well. Not always with the nausea, and then it started also giving me an almost irresistible urge to urinate. The episodes would last between two and twenty minutes, usually in the 5-7 minute range. I've had one while driving too. I did try to get seen at a local clinic once but they only had chiropractors there that day.

It dropped off a lot over the summer, still had an episode here or there. Last fall it ramped back up, and now it's changed again.

I still get the episodes, the chills all over, but now they're lasting way longer (the chills only). Like two days in a row. I can take a hot shower and still feel the goosebumps on my legs while I'm in there. I take my temperature, it's down by a degree.

So.

That's been my last year. My doctor is still "pondering". Oh, and I don't think it's my diet, with the stomach problems I've had in the past I eat boring. Very little variation in my diet, nothing spicy or weird.

I'm hoping someone out there has a friend or cousin or family member who's had something similar, or a medical professional who read something in some obscure journal somewhere.

Crowd-sourcing. If that's still a thing.

Any lil help, any ideas will be listened to, promise.ย  And thanks.

I really hope you aren't developing cannabis hyperemesis syndrome. Do hot showers/baths tend to relieve your symptoms?

That was one of the 1st things we thought of, it's not that thank goodness

Ok hear me out Jon: are you absolutely sure this isn't anxiety related? I'm not saying its all in your head, but many ppl don't realize anxiety can cause severe physical symptoms as well.

About 10 yrs ago I was having daily episodes of dry-heaving/vomiting, chills & shaking, urges to use the bathroom. It turned out these "episodes" were panic attacks.

I still get them, and I still get these physical symptoms from them if I don't keep them in check. Just a thought!

That's why I saw the shrink. She thought they didn't sound like panic attacks to her, so... :P
(she could be wrong too)
oh, and they were thinking endocrinologist too for a bit but no longer.

Ah ok, just figured I'd mention it! I hope you get some answers and relief soon, this sounds awful to live with :(

it's not knowing when it'll happen too, no warning. makes it hard to relax fully :P

All the side effects lean towards an infection. If this is a constant thing, then itโ€™s probably something with your lifestyle. I have ulcers and they will make me throw up all the time if my stomach disagrees with it. When I went to the doctor for that, the didnโ€™t find anything wrong.
Just my guess though.

Possible I guess but I kinda think Dr Heidi would have ruled that out by now :/

My doctor said nothing was wrong with me when I was throwing up blood. It took a while to figure out what was actually wrong with me. My mom had a similar issue, she needed surgery.
Letโ€™s hope itโ€™s not that extreme.

i dont know SHIT but maybe ur body is just being a dick? i dont wanna be mean at all and i hope im not coming off like i am but it could very well just be old age, or maybe some underlying condition youve had for years that is just now starting to fuck with you
