Rating video games I've played/I'm playing: Doki-Doki Literature Club (+ Plus)

THIS GAME IS CATALOGUED AS A HORROR GAME, AND TALKS ABOUT SENSITIVE CONTENT SUCH AS ANXIETY, DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE. PLEASE DON'T PLAY THIS GAME IF YOU ARE A SENSITIVE PERSON OR IF YOU HAVE MENTAL ISSUES. ALSO THERE IS A SPOILER ZONE WHERE I WILL TALK ABOUT A THING THAT HAPPENED IN MY GAMEPLAY.

Doki-Doki Literature Club (+ Plus) is a graphic novel game about you joining a literature club where you encounter four girls who are super excited to meet you and to share books and stories together. The girls are:

• Sayori: your childhood friend who recommends you to join the club first. With a sensible but kind heart, she is the vicepresident of the club.
• Natsuki: being the tsundere typical girl you encounter in any romance game, she is the one who reads cute manga and brings cupcakes for her friends to enjoy.
• Yuri: she's the most introverted girl in the game, but she is glad to show you some horror literature and discuss about it.
• Monika: apart from being the most popular girl in the whole school, she is also the founder of the club, always pleased to meet you.

The game is divided in three acts, where you help the girls prepare for the festival the school is preparing by writing poems and sharing with the rest of the girls. The writing part is a mini-game where you have to choose wisely the words you're choosing in order to impress the girl you like. If you impress a girl by writing a poem with the words you chose, you will be having special interactions that helps you know better every member of the club, but specially the girl you like.

Originally, this game is free and can be found on Steam, but now that Epic games released the updated version for free (which originally costs around 15 euros) I finally had the chance to play it, and I am really impressed about how many details they put into, like more soundtracks, side stories to know about the origin of the club, more illustrations, and even the chance to unlock early designs of every girl. I really reccomend the + Plus version, but the original and free version is really cool too.

Personally, I give this game a 8.5/10 because I really enjoy the visuals and the story in general. Who is your favourite girl? Mine is Sayori, because she is very kind to the player and really cares about everyone, including the literature club.

SPOILER ZONE!!!

As a mentioned before, this game is a horror game due to the glitches and some jumpscares that start at the end of act 1. There are some glitches that can be triggered, but there is a low percentage of probability of this glitches to happen. I wanted to share one of them, because, although I've played the game a few times before, that never happened to me before, and also didn't saw it in any gameplay. Basically the screen turns red after reading a special poem and later on the screen fades to black. It scared me a little not gonna lie XD.
