On the future of this site

I've had a few issues with the site in a couple of hours since I have registered. I am using this site in particular because I have missed the era of myspace and want to see how a revival looks like. Then I've seen a few people saying they saw a few gore pictures on the home page because some people have been spamming them and the site is also slow at responding many things.

The ultimate question is whether something based on nostalgia and an early "good will" of the internet would work. On top of that, the site is funded by donations, so commercial gains is quite secondary, which makes it even more limited. The trend of constantly politicizing many topics in our current timeline is not very helpful, either.

More to add.

One particular attraction to spacehey is the no algorithms and settled apart from the larger telecommunication monopolies.

Unfortunately, as with anything meaning well, there are the fools.

I would recommend exploring the tech forums on here, as much wonderful information from Linux Distros to PC building may be found on here. Perhaps even start a group of those you meet sharing similar interests. The gaming ones should yield some fun.

Due to the small team, things are quite slow. I believe the minds behind spacehey have recently upgraded their servers to allow for the influx of users over the past year from the mobile app. That is quite good.

To avoid gore accounts, usually the profile names give it away. Best to just inspect the blog posts and carry on, much as in the early days of the Internet. A wild west, that unfortunately, you will run into on your own time.

Fortunately, any such encounters are not force fed, as in the case of YouTube's infamous recommendation system.
