Something I don't really like about the modern web

Why did we get rid of complete page customization? I just can't wrap my head around it... Why did we collectively decide to suck out half the fun of creating a profile? When did everything become so uniform, conformist and bland? You can change your profile pictures and your banner on most modern day social medias which is kewl but it could be better... a lot better. I remember just surfing around YouTube and just looking at ppls profiles. I really liked seeing what people would do with theirs and I kinda really miss it. 

I think the only "modern day" social media that has a ton of customization features is Tumblr, you can change you pfp, banner, your background color, your title font, your title colors and your pages accent. Maybe there are other websites that let you do this aside from SpaceHey, BitView, Blips, whatever but I want to see it on modern social media. It'd be kewl I think.
