Why do we like fashion so much?

Why do u think people are so obsessed with fashion? We care about it so much and we’re always looking to create new trends or adhere to other ppl’s. Fashion designers live to create new and exciting trends and clothes that top last season’s and competing against other people that are also doing the same thing. It’s become more of a competition than just simple clothes u can own and pair with whatever you want because supposedly in fashion there are no rules. Or are there? Just a question.
