Prince Rupert, the younger of two brothers, is a reluctant hero. He's been sent to slay a dragon, but he knows that in reality, he's being sent to his death. In order to get to the dragon though, he has to cross the darkwood, which proves to be more of a problem than even he expected. Is fighting a dragon really the worst of his issues, or is there something much more grueling ahead of him? It turns out that the darkwood is much more threatening than a butterfly collecting dragon.

I absolutely loved this book. Despite having read it nearly three years ago, I still vividly remember the entirety of the plot, and look back on it regularly. I was really surprised by the plot twist at the end, and think it was done really well. I also really liked the minor characters just as much as the major characters!

10/10. I loved this book. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a classic fairytale with undertones of romance and comedy.
