Despite coming out yesterday (Feb 1st or 2nd, 2024), most of the songs have an echo-y, airy, etherealness to them that feels very much like the early 2010's stuff you'd find on SiriusXM's Alt Nation (like Kings of Leon for example). The album feels very melancholic, even some of the "brighter" songs because it can sound like they're singing from down the hall.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's perfect for a late night drive when you just don't know where to go or what to do with yourself. Ironically, one of the two exceptions to this is called "Long Drive.". It has a quicker tempo, less fog on the instruments, and even though the vocals have echo on them as always, it's turned down so that I can actually understand the lyrics fairly easily.
The other exception is "66 Mustang Interlude," which would very much fit in on the Lofi Girl stream.
If you're feeling melancholic, if you had a thing for Blue October back in the day before they started making you feel depressed, the album is a great listen.
