most callout posts are gross and unnecessary. here's why.

first, i just want to say that sometimes, callout posts are necessary to keep spacehey a safe environment for everyone. but, the majority of them are either made for kudos, popularity, or are against a literal child who's just mentally ill and in need of help. this blog goes more in depth on wrongs of callout blogs and whether or not the callout you posted/are planning to post is a good idea.

so, what is makes a callout blog bad? here's a list of everything that can make a callout blog unnecessary:

1. the post is made about someone who did not do anything hugely wrong (for example: they were being rude to you, they have different opinions than you (that are mostly harmless), etc.)

- this one is pretty obvious. unless the person is a p3d0, a huge bigot, z00phile, or any other thing that is genuinely wrong, there is no need for a callout. if someone called you a name or doesn't like what you like, don't bother with the callout. this may seem unnecessary to include, but you would be shocked.

2. the post is made about someone who has a small amount of spacehey friends, or has the same friends as you

- if they're not "spacehey famous" either make a bulletin or dm their friends. it's not that hard. don't put drama about an unpopular person out there for the entirety of spacehey to see. if it's not spacehey strangers' business, a bulletin or a dm is a much better solution.

3. the post is made about someone very young, such as a callout post just being about kids who go under your "dni" age, or any young kid in general

- i shouldn't have to say this. kids are going to make mistakes. they're going to be pieces of shit. they're going to say edgy stuff for attention. that's just how they are. if a 13 year old is making edgy posts without trigger warnings, for example, just block and report. anyone who sees the post will most likely do the same, so there's really no reason to tell the whole world.

4. the person being called out is in clear need of medical attention, and those mental problems are what you are calling them out about

- i should NOT have to be saying this. if a person is showing clear signs of needing genuine crisis help, even if they refuse to get any help at all, it really isn't your business to spread THEIR business everywhere. the person will get the point if you tell them what they're doing wrong, block, and report. it shouldn't be this hard to block and report.

5. the post has a ton of html, to the point where text is unreadable, especially in comments

- it honestly shocks me how many callout blogs have a "cute" layout. srs allegations shouldn't be edited to fit your aesthetic. that is plain gross. in addition to that, i have seen countless callout blogs that use fonts that make it impossible to either read the post itself or, more commonly, to read the comments. this is INSANE. a callout blog is the #1 place in need of being able to read comments and the like. in general, making srs allegations aesthetic will not make people take your post srsly. it will do the EXACT opposite. so stop.

thank you for reading this, if you did. because spacehey drama like this needs to stop. remember, block and report are always there to use.Β

I agree with you on all of this. All the drama has been turning me off from logging onto Spacehey lately. Unless we try to nip it in the bud now, this is probably the beginning of the end of Spacehey unfortunately :((

exactly!! we've seen it on so many other websites, where drama just takes over and it's simply not that fun anymore for anyone. that's generally how websites die, which makes me scared for spacehey's future.
