This is the first time in a while I've taken a series slow and I'm so happy I did, coming back home every night after a long day wage slaving away and listening to professors ramble in classes I don't care about. This show has been weirdly comforting for me, it has so much tragedy and so much hope, feels like those two feelings are constantly conflicting with each other for the characters in this show, and I think the mix of joy and wonder alongside tradedgy and closure during the ending really represents everything this show is. These girls are in an awful situation, brainwashed and obedient with barely a second thought when ordered to do things. Yet they're still human, they're still kids and that's going to slip through for some of them, some more so than others. Rico is so far gone that she doesn't seem to feel remorse or sadness at all especially in the latter half of the show after what she had to do in episode 3. But she's still a child, and the childish side of her is so prevalent in her character I feel.
The way this show displays the relationship between the girls and their handlers, the way some are polar opposites, it's all handled so perfectly and the variety of perspectives the show allows, dedicating entire episodes to focus on each pairing really gives the perspectives all the characters has time to shine. And the way some develop throughout the show is always without fail handled so well and often so unexpectedly too.
Henrietta, unsurprisingly is my favorite of the girls, she's the most human I feel. She deeply cares for everyone around her, is the most emotional and thanks to her handler she's had far less brainwashing.
There's a second season that I'm seriously kinda worried about watching afdjsjgfakd reviews don't look so good, no english dub which is a shame because imo the dub is muuuuch better for this show considering it's setting and various ethnicities too.
Anywaya!! I'm gonna go play the ps2 games :3
