my kpop opinions pt 1 ౨ৎ ⋆｡˚

hi blog!! today im talking about my kpop opinions :3

i made a youtube video about this about 2 years ago and i think i want to talk about how i feel about these opinions now. i'm also going to take some from reddit bc they are veryyy interesting LOL! ++ these are my opinions and i'm open to hearing others as well, nd some of these r boring AS HELL.

1 - i don't understand the hate stray kids gets

i 100% still stand with this opinion, i found that a lot of my kpop friends did not like stray kids because of their problematic past. which is super understandable, however, there is a difference. it's obviously debatable and different in situations but i believe if an artist is problematic and has shown that they have learnt from their mistakes then it's fine to listen to their music. you don't have to say you like them or whatever but majority of kpop groups or kpop artists are problematic one way or another. i just think you shouldn't put it onto a 'problematic scale' because you can listen to music however you like, there isn't rules! this isn't something people do with western artists, because people aren't aware of every wrong doing an american celebrity does unless they keep up. YEAH i'm rambling but i just feel like if you don't like them bc their problematic then thats understandable but pushing people to stop listening or forcing yourself to hate on them and dedicating your time to that is just unreasonable and weird!

2 - i feel like girls planet 999 should've debuted another group alongside kep1er

i thought about this a lot after i made the video and even though i still agree, i understand that it's a survival show and thats how groups are made but! after watching boys planet i felt the exact same, i 100% think everyone in the last lineup should've debuted. they are all SO talented and demonstrated that throughout the last episode. i'm glad a lot of them have debuted anyways, i didn't see that with girls planet and it made me very worried.

3 - tomboy was good

i think something i could talk about is the FORCED hate for gidle. i made a video on tiktok when NXDE came out about how people are being insanely unreasonable and racist about the song and it blew up, and there were definitely nice comments but i saw TOO many comments being racist!? sometimes people forget that kpop quite literally means KOREAN pop. they are not all going to have fluent american accents and know english grammar when that is NOT their first language. i understand that gidle has members that are fluent in english but once again it is KPOP. it really makes me mad when someone says 'but i can't understand them' WOW REALLY! you can't understand thir english accent but you.. as a white american.. can understand the korean lyrics? it just blows my mind how brain dead some people are. i just cannot fathom how people can think like that? there are SO many groups who have members that are fluent in english but don't use forced american accents in songs? gidle are CONSTANTLY targetted, especially on the songs where they talk about gender equality and the sexualisation for women. it just shows some peoples true colours i guess!

4 - nmixxs comeback was good

this was when O.O came out. again, the forced hate was insane because that debut was AMAZING. it demonstrated all of their talents and they are still amazing now, jini is a solo artist and her songs are SO good.

5 - aespas recent comeback wasn't as good as i expected

this is about lifes too short. i don't know, i like the song now but its not in my playlist. i think it threw me off because it wasn't aespas vibe at the time, after listening to it a few times i've started to enjoy it! 

6 - soojin 'golden' member

the title would've been too long if i added more but i had seen lots of people talking about how they think soojin leaving gidle was a good idea because she was taking too much spotlight and i disagreed. too this day i still disagree, it is SO heartbreaking to me that she had to leave just for all of those bullying allegations to be proven false. she deserves the BIGGEST apology. there is always going to be a 'golden' member in a group but thats debatable for everyone! soojin was VERY popular because she is gorgeous, her singing is AMAZING, and she is SO good at dancing.

7 - eta is the only good song on newjeans get up ep (REDDIT)

cmon now... you dont mean that LOL. just kidding. i think it was genius of newjeans to add different genres into one EP. i LOVED get up and cool with you. i like the rest of the songs as well. i think newjeans are super talented have been able to pull of all of their songs. i think the only song i'm not really into is the coca cola sponsored one, i just cant get into it!
