It’s understandable that you feel a little lost in life right now, but the good news is that you’re only fourteen & you have the rest of high school to explore your passions & interests. It is normal to not know what you want to be right now—I was the same way when I was a freshman—so you should not ail over thoughts of the future right now. As for the group chat, just stand your ground & offer to help them with it without giving them the answers. You can always opt out of all-stars, but if you are really passionate about band, then go for it! There will always be some fear in pursuing an important event, but you will look back on the audition with pride rather than regret for not trying. Present anxieties are ephemeral.
