Just had finished the lecture and had lunch!
been in school since 8 this morning and got some work done.
The lecture was about how you build processors that support simple MIPS instructions. it was ALOT of information and made me pretty tired ngl.
NEXT PARAGRAPH IS A RECAP OF MY LECTURE FOR ME TO REMEMBER BETTER SKIPP IF NOT INTERESTED
but quick recap: read operations happen during the clock cycle, and the writing happens right on the clock edge. the register file is the component that directs, reads and writes stuff on to the memory and registers. when we already have the given logic to perform one type of instruction, and want to add further instructions, we add multiplexers. this means that we need further control variables to control the muxes. these control variables together makes up the op, and funct parts of the instruction.
the lecturer for this course (computer hardware engineering) is italian and speaks with an accent, and shit is funny AF at times. when he pronounces circuits, he says cirQuit. so the lectures have some entertainment to them atleast

haha these are mundane but also genuinely entertaining to read? because it's like small details, like how your lecturer pronounced 'circuits' of that you just had lunch, so we obvi don't discuss them. but it's just getting a peak into your thoughts. i can't type any of this without thinking i sound incredibly pretentious and cringy. anw love the updates!!!
