saw some other people doing this so i figured i'd join in for fun!

1. what's your favorite band or artist?

all-time favourite is alkaline trio, current favourite is orchestral manoeuvres in the dark

2. what's your favorite album by your favorite artist?

ALK3: Crimson / OMD: Architecture & Morality

3. is that your favorite album of all time?? if not, which one is ?

it changes all the time. i don't know what my favourite is at the moment, but i remember at one point "KUTS" by matt skiba and the sekrets was, and then "patent pending" by heavens... my first ever favourite album was "infinity on high" by fall out boy and that was my favourite for a long time. but i really don't know.

4. what's your favorite song by your favorite artist ?

ALK3: Emma / OMD: Dresden

5. is that your favorite song of all time?? if not, which one is ?

how the hell do you pick a favourite all-time song? either way, my current favourite songs right now are "fake plastic trees" by radiohead and "infatuation" by I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME.

6. what's your favorite genre ?

punk, new wave, electronic, alternative

7. do you prefer listening to albums or playlists ?

depends! when i'm sitting down/relaxing, i like albums, but if i'm moving around or don't know what exactly i want to listen to, i listen to playlists.

8. do you use spotify, yt music, itunes or something else?

spotify but i also listen to CDs

9. name an underrated band and an overrated band!

underrated: i can't think of one right now

overrated: this is a person, not a band, but taylor swift - used to like her a lot when i was a little kid but her music is just so generic looking back on it... i have no issue with her minus her huge carbon footprint but she gets way too much praise for her stuff lol.

10. name an underrated album and an overrated album!! 

underrated: "esperanto" by elektric music - if you like kraftwerk (or just electronic music), this is from their past member karl bartos! great record with some great songs on it. 

overrated: "sour" by olivia rodrigo - i listened to this when it came out out of curiosity and i don't get it. it has no charm to me and honestly, i don't get the appeal of a seventeen-year-old(?) writing a bunch of generic songs about her breakup. 

11. name an underrated song and an overrated song!!

underrated: i don't know, i'll go with "infatuation" by idkhow since i mentioned it earlier. very 80s-inspired, gorgeous-sounding track.

overrated: way too many...

12. what's your most guilty pleasure song ?

idk. i like weezer. i don't listen to them as much as i used to but that's pretty cringeworthy of me.

13. what instruments do you play? 

trumpet, recorder, bass (sorta), ukulele (sorta), piano (sorta)

14. if you were in a band, what would you name it?

something really stupid, probably

15. what's your favorite band name ? (not your favorite band's name, your favorite name a band has)

orchestral manoeuvres in the dark is pretentious and fun to say.

16. what band/artist have you been listening to the longest ?

heavily listen to as in considered myself "deep into the fandom" or whatever would be fall out boy, i began listening to them since january 2015. but, as in regardless, probably the beatles. my parents played them all the time and i know a ton of their songs and still like to listen to their music today.

17. what's the newest band/artist you started listening to ?

nitzer ebb

18. what's the reason you usually start listening to a new band/artist ? (e.g friends suggest them, a song of theirs trends, etc)

my brain latches onto random shit and i go with it. i usually find bands through other bands (OMD through karl bartos collaboration, nitzer ebb through alan wilder collaborating with douglas mccarthy on his recoil project, alkaline trio through blink-182 [even though matt isn't in that band anymore... not disappointed though bc that means the trio gets more attention as they should])

19. be honest, have you ever started listening to a band because a member of it was hot ?

nope but i have listened to bands if 1+ of their members is lgbt because it's nice to find other people like you if that makes sense (but of course being gay doesn't make you a good musician, sadly).

20. what's a band/artist you didn't like at first but you like now ?

it took me FOREVER to get into fugazi.

21. what's a band/artist you used to like but don't anymore ?

THE LIST IS ENDLESS: twenty one pilots, panic! at the disco, all time low, melanie martinez, halsey, waterparks... and if you want some that aren't from my edgelord days, rancid and nofx are what come to mind.

22. what band/artist do you think has the coolest aesthetic/style ? 

depeche mode maybe? i just like leather and guys in eyeliner, so... any band i listen to that wears eyeliner... or leather... or suits... lol.

23. how many concerts have you gone to ?

2. p!atd in 2019 and paramore last summer. hopefully i'll see OMD this year whenever they announce US tickets... i unfortunately don't have a lot of money or else i'd be seeing every band i want to see (idkhow and alk3 particularly - alk3 also because the timing is unfortunate and is four hours away on a weekday), but since OMD is my current love, i desperately want to see them.

24. what's your favorite concert you've gone to ?

paramore. not hard to beat panic!. i'm going to piss off some teenagers but looking back on it, it wasn't that great. our seats were far away and overpriced and everything was rehearsed, including the banter. plus, brendon's vocal chords were fried. 

25. if you could go to a concert of any band/artist ever, which would you choose ?

i would go back in time and see alk3/bad religion when they were touring together because they're two of my favourites!

26. do you care more about lyrics or sound ?

probably sound. i like good lyrics and used to care more about the lyrics, but since i've shifted to liking electronic/new wave stuff as well, i focus more on the sound, too. 

27. would you listen to a band with a bad singer if every other member was amazing ?

depends how bad. i mean, i said i used to like rancid and tim's voice can get kind of annoying depending on the song (sorry tim). 

28. favorite game soundtrack ?

idk, probably a tony hawk or skate game. those games are dumb but fun.

29. favorite movie soundtrack ?

most terrible 80s rom-coms have good soundtracks.

30. are you active in the fanbase for any bands/artists ? 

i try and be active in all the fanbases but some of them have awful fanbases.

31. do you ever zone out and imagine epic amvs/edits to a song ur listening to ?

sometimes i create my own music videos in my head or pretend i'm in a music video. it can be fun.

32. have you ever talked about a band/artist so much all your friends started associating anything to do with that band or artist with you ? 

yep. for some reason, one of my friends thinks i'm obsessed with radiohead. some others right now associate me with karl bartos and all of his stuff. in the past, a lot of friends have associated me with alk3. i think that's it.

33. what band/artist gets too much hate ? 

uhhh idk

34. what band/artist doesnt get enough hate ? 

i don't think anyone deserves hate unless they're continually pieces of garbage with no signs of improvement.

35. do you have any songs so strongly associated with something/someone that you cant think of anythign else when you listen to it ? 

not currently, thankfully, but there have been songs it took me years to unassociate with people.

36. how many band tees do you own ?(bonus for you emos: how many of them are black ?)

i have 24 clean right now, 14 which are black, but i need to do laundry, so... i don't know the total number and i'm not going through my laundry to count.

37: do you collect vinyls or cds ? 

CDs, but i do have a few records.

38. do you own any band merch apart from tees, vinyls or cds ?

posters as well as magazines and books if you count them. i also have an alkaline trio hoodie and a bunch of band pins/patches, too.

39. what's a band/artist that you like that youve never met anyone else who's a fan of it ?

i've never met anyone else who likes jesse michaels's stuff outside of operation ivy as much as i do.

40. what are you listening to right now ? 

nothing, but i was listening to the "blood, hair, and eyeballs" album by alk3 prior to this.

41. whos ur musician celebrity crush?

they're embarrassing so let's just say i have a crush on around 1-2 people from nearly every band i like. slightly less embarrassing than actually revealing who they are...

42. do you watch recordings of live performances ?

yes, but i generally like watching concert movies better.

43. have you ever purposefully tried to look like a musician you liked ? (eg dyeing ur hair like theirs, copying their style, etv)

for a long time i copied alex gaskarth's haircut... lmfao. i also had brian baker's longer haircut that he had in the minor threat days for a bit and looked vaguely like a knockoff of him, but that was pure coincidence.

44. have you ever been compared to any musicians ? if you have, do you see it or not ?

when i had alex gaskarth hair my boyfriend at the time compared me to him. i think he was just feeding my ego or lying to himself because he had a crush on alex. that's about it.

45. have you ever had a music related username on any site ?

yep. both my discord and instagram names are alk3 albums... if you go looking for me, have fun, but i'm not adding/following you back if you find me.

46. favorite lyrics of all time ?

i actually don't know

47. favorite album cover ?

again, no idea. omd's "pacific age" cover is pretty, i think.

48. have you ever listened to an album just because the title or album cover looked cool ?

i use discord and have listened to some of the stuff featured on fmbot if the album looked cool. i also listened to strawberry switchblade because i liked their band name... i was pleasantly surprised to find they were a new wave group!

49. favorite song title ? (not title of your favorite song, favorite title of a song)

i don't know. middle school me would have probably said a fall out boy song.

50. worst song youve ever heard ? like a song that made you want to claw ur eardrums out and hit every nearby speaker with a sledgehammer until they were shattered to the point of being dust 

so many. off the top of my head, i can think of in one of my high school classes my teacher played a random playlist and one song that would come on is "taste" by tyga and i had such violent thoughts whenever that came on.
