mizisua analysis.

 INCOMING SPOILERS FOR ALIEN STAGE.

i had to rewatch the mizisua again bc there is just so much to talk about. this video was able to reveal mizi and suas background, and although it only shows their trip to the anakt garden, the events in the video clearly aligns with the events of the present story. 

immediately, it is revealed that sua is treated as a doll by her owners. she is dressed up nicely but she sits like a doll, she barely moves and her eyes are dull. whereas mizi is dressed comfortably, still trying to talk with her owners, crying as she gets sent away, and kept many of her toys to keep her company. meaning that mizis owners treats mizi as her family, rather than an object or toy.

this introduces mizi and sua as foils, as they had completely opposite backgrounds, along with their contrasting color palette. not to mention, mizis eyes are yellow while suas eyes are purple, mizis hair is pink/blue while suas hair is black/green which are complimentary colors and looks very nice together. to me, this design choice just screams 'soulmate'.

this is my favorite scene. mizi entered suas life bc she was curious, and from suas point of view, mizi is brilliant and vibrant compared to herself. mizis appearance is almost divine, with the glowing jellyfish [?] tentacles behind her and all of her toys floating. its as if she is suas light... in killugon language. 

its worth pointing out that mizi sees sua as her light ['my god, my universe'] instead, but it was never shown how sua felt towards mizi. 

in this scene, it tells us everything that happened in the anakt garden. the jellyfish tentacles slowly break the barrier between them, as mizi starts reaching out to sua, talking with her and playing with her. the tentacles crossing the barrier also syncs with the music, depicting the passage of time as they grew closer, as mizi starts to light up suas world.

then they were separated. mizi can no longer reach sua [the tentacles shows that]. this symbolizes suas death in round one.

as theyre being pulled every from eachother, sua [left] slowly puts her hand on the container wall, while mizi was quick with both hands, and her body language seems desperate. she dont want sua to leave [die].

suas hand also slips off a bit in the next frame, symbolizing her eventual death.

this scene is very powerful. sua remains expressionless and simply stands there, her eyes still dull [the implication changes to show that she is dead]. mizi starts crying as she waves to sua, bidding her farewell [accepting suas death, but is still consumed by grief].

as the final nail in the coffin, sua pulls her hand away and starts waving back, as the container disappears, showing her slowly drifting into eternal darkness [the afterlife]. this action also shows that sua is attached to mizi and truly appreciates her, but she have to leave, she doesnt have another choice. 

then the music suddenly cuts off to show mizi curled up somewhere, still shaken from the events that happened in round five. this sudden cut from a melancholic scene between two children to a grown mizi crying alone is unexpected, which makes the scene all the more emotional. the video itself might be a flashback of mizi reminiscing her relationship with sua, where it all began. or it could be a dream and mizi suddenly woke up, finding herself sobbing uncontrollably.

mizisua... 10/10 doomed yuri. not a single dialogue was spoken throughout the whole video, just pure storytelling through visual symbolism.
