Types of electromagnetic guitar pickups

There are various types of pickups for guitars and each one has its own characteristics and sound.

Single coil: this pickup consist in iron cores or permanent magnets wrapped in a copper winding; this creating a electromagnetic field. This pickup its famous for it's thin and crisp sound

Double coil/humbucker: The same concept as before but there's instead tho pickups winded between each other, creating a more powerful output and warmer sound.

Split coil: This one is more common for basses, its like a single coil but split in half, and each half has it's own copper winding. It has a dark and punchier sound.
