Although my last entry was kind of long, I don't think I covered everything I wanted. I don't have class till 11am on Mondays, so I'm able to ease back into the workweek.
My birthday is this week, I can't believe that I failed to mention that. I'll likely celebrate a little Friday afternoon though my birthday is on Saturday. It'll be interesting turning 19. It feels like such an awkward age to be. However, I will be able to sign contracts on my own and gain entrance to bars and similar venues. It will be interesting celebrating my birthday without my family. Although I have friends/acquaintances, it's too late to organize anything. My family will likely visit me next weekend (I think?).
On Saturday, I'll be going to my university's hackathon. I'm a little nervous to go though, as I don't have much coding experience. However, I want to meet more people and learn some new things. Check-in starts at 11, so I'm assuming the hackathon starts at 12 or at 1. I'm not sure if I'll end up staying the whole time; if I do, I will most certainly be tired.
The sun's finally back, and it should stick around for the majority of the week. It's still cold of course. I can really tell that the sunshine's pouring in earlier and earlier, which is good. Each day we get roughly an extra minute of daylight.
I've been thinking about winter, daylight, and schedules lately. Because it's winter we get less daylight. People typically have less energy during this time. I think we should follow a schedule that aligns more closely with the amount of daylight during a given week or month. Stores should close around/an hour after sunset. This would allow both workers and customers to rest. There wouldn't be much to do outside, but it would allow people to focus on their personal lives.
Speaking of there being nothing to do, it really feels like there's a lack of events on campus. Now, this isn't actually true. It's just that the spring semester hasn't started with the same grandeur as the previous semester. I've mostly spent the time I would've spent going to events doing work. I really need to get started on working on some projects for my resume. I'm a little behind on my internship applications and although I'm a freshman, I should still try.
