To My Darling Son

My Darling Son,

     They say that when you die, your life flashes before your eyes. They say you see everything you have ever done. Every decision you have ever made. Every sad moment, and every happy one. Of this I am certain. In my last moments before I depart from this earth, I hope you know that my final thoughts will peacefully rest within the memories of these very days I get to spend with you. Holding you in my arms, Eskimo kisses, hearing your first giggles, feeling your tiny hands wrapped around and holding my fingers, hearing you saying “Mama” and “I love you”. This is where I find my peace. These are the happiest moments of my life. This is where my heart lies, and this is where my mind will find comfort in my final moments. I want you to know that you have brought so much joy and purpose into my life, and whether I leave this earth tomorrow or 70 years from now, it won’t matter. I am happiest when I am with you. You have given me a love that transcends time and space. You are my greatest pride, my greatest joy, and being your Mother is my greatest accomplishment. Of all the wonderful, beautiful, incredible things in this world that I have experienced, and that I love, you are far and beyond the greatest. I love you.
