I like Geto cuz his character is overall interesting. The way Gege used his technique to descent from a normal jujutsu sorcerer to a powerful enemy was not only insane but executed perfectly.
His emotions were shown amazingly in a few scenes and showed how he slowly 'drifted away' from his friends, despite not really meaning to. (He didn't necessarily drift away, he just got caught up in his ideals/opinions, seemed pretty depressed, etc) You could see the numbness and despair slowly taking over the entirety of his body not only in the anime, but in the manga, too.
Yuki somewhat made it worse when she suggested a world without non-sorcerers. Geto was already doing pretty bad at the time, he was at this point where he didn't know what to do, so when she suggested that kind of world Geto was like "That's the answer. It'll be worth it once it's over." Seeing this as the 'only answer,' Geto found himself seemingly happy again. He no longer had to struggle on the thought of what to do.
He didn't hate his friends or anything but in order to carry out what he was wanting to do, he'd have to leave, and considering the fact he killed 112 people, he was also wanted and no longer considered a good guy; but a curse user. He most likely would've been fine if it was just a few people, but 100+ is crazy.
Some of the scenes with Toji altered a little bit of Getos brain chemistry. After Geto loses to Toji, Toji calls himself a monkey. The term monkey is used as something that's 'not yet fully evolved', and in this case, the monkeys are non-sorcerers. They are below the level of Jujutsu Sorcerers and Geto sees them as nothing but burdens once he makes up his mind.
One of his peers, Haibara, was killed and honestly I can't imagine how he felt during that time. "If we didn't have to protect the weak, he would still be here. So many others would still be here," is something I felt he would've thought. Nanami was greatly impacted by Haibara's death as well.
Geto cared about his friends, Shoko, Gojo, etc. but once he figured out a way to keep them and lots of others safe, he lost it. The idea he had could've been put into place if only he had done it differently. His ideals got out of hand and his confidence in molding the new world took over.
I know for a fact one of his ideals before switching up was that he HAD to protect the weak, aka non-sorcerers. If they didn't have to protect them, his friend wouldn't have died, and so many others wouldn't have died. If there was a world without curses, everything would be 'perfect' and nobody would have to get hurt nor risk their lives. That was Geto's ideal.
P.S. : I have yet to finish the Manga. If I'm wrong, or you feel I'm missing something, feel free to either correct me or add on.
