The first electric instrument was created in the 1930's between 1932 and 1938.
Its name was "Frying pan" because of the resemblance it had with a pan. It was created by George Beauchamp and Adolf Rickenbacker.
It featured one of the first electromagnetic pickups named "horseshoe";the body and neck were made out of aluminium.
It wasn't exactly a guitar but it was a lap steel, a similar instrument but played horizontally laying on the lap.
