how i can be more empathic ?

I think that I am very insensitive sometimes and I do not realize it until I am already insensitive I think that this is a problem cause of the shape I have been raised you know being raised around the typical phrase Don't cry you have to be strong I want to know how can be more empathic or sensitive because I feel like  I am hurting the people how is around me.
