Herobrine is the subject of discussion and speculation in various Minecraft communities. His appearance is the same as that of the player, but with white eyes and the beard that was later removed from the player. Contrary to all rumors, Herobrine was never present in the game. The joke is to pretend to take Herobrine seriously, even though you know full well that it's just a joke.

Herobrine is considered a kind of ghost legend in Minecraft. He is supposed to appear at random and build smaller pyramids, dig two-block-high tunnels or build caves out of quarry stone, which are lit with redstone torches. According to the community, he removes leaves from trees or even sets them on fire. Herobrine is said to appear most often in fog when visibility is set to "Low". Also, as soon as Herobrine spawns, all the torches will fall from the walls, making houses no longer able to protect them.
