WHAT THE FUCK is it with authors and making their characters have huge age gaps???????? and it's always an older dude and a younger woman. sometimes it feels like the writers are projecting in a way. like, why is it like "John/average/5'4"/56 years old/looks just like author" and then the woman is like "𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓼𝓽𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮 / 19 / 𝓫𝓸𝓻𝓷 2 𝓭𝓪𝔂𝓼 𝓪𝓰𝓸 / 𝓭𝓪𝓲𝓷𝓽𝔂 / 𝓼𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓷𝔂 / 𝔀𝓱𝓲𝓽𝓮 / 𝓫𝓾𝓽 𝓱𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓲𝓼 𝓲𝓷 𝓶𝓮𝓼𝓼𝔂 𝓫𝓾𝓷 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓱𝓪𝓼 𝓰𝓵𝓪𝓼𝓼𝓮𝓼! 😂 / 𝓼𝓮𝓷𝓸𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓪 𝓪𝔀𝓮𝓼𝓸𝓶𝓮 :3...." how many times do I need to hear the ENTIRE classroom audibly groan until i read a book where a 19 year old dates a 18-20 year old?!?!?! I'm currently reading Kindred in school. why is bro old enough to be dana's dad? i understand that they are both mature adults who are consenting but also atp it's a trend. i just got done with the scarlet letter last semester and it was EVEN WORSE. dude was old enough to be her GRANDFATHER. and what's crazy is that he tried to pull that "you were so young and thats my fault.... ;-; i should've never dated you...." like "you're fucking stupid sorry i didn't think about that"... when i heard him say that i began to forcibly remove every last page from my hardcover copy of the scarlet letter, like clockwork i began to insert the pages into my mouth and chew. one by one, i ate the book. i could almost feel the grueling screams of the dead trees-- spiritually, as if i were one with the trees. when finished i began to rip my hair out. the keratin strings lacked flavor. though, the excruciating burning pain i felt upon my scalp sufficed, it was indicative of the pure rage; a result of the mental torment that is creepy white men who write books and think they're deep and smart but they aren't NO THAT'S NOT HOW THEY SPOKE BACK THEN! HAWTHORNE JUST THINKS HE'S ALL NTHAT BUT HE'S NOT HE WRITES LIKE HE WAS REQUIRED TO WRITE A MINIMUM OF 50 MILLION WORDS. butt(lol) that's another story for another day if u want to hear about that. i have a lot of literature opinions for someone who barely reads. for example, animal farm is middy mid mid and not classic-worthy.
