i am so bad at organising my thoughts and am not taking this seriously, so just a warning that this is going to be all over the place.
this is my first attempt at a blog thing and i guess it's partially self-promotion just because the band mentioned in the title (OMD) is probably one of the only new wave/electronic/synthpop bands that is extremely popular yet has almost no online fanbase whatsover and i had to create one on discord a few months ago to find other people (and it's still a small server), so we'll see if anyone on here knows them...
their most popular songs are "if you leave" (from the "pretty in pink" movie) and "enola gay", so if you don't know one of those, you might not know them at all. but, if you're into 80s electronic/new wave/synthpop music at all and want a new band to get into, their discography is pretty interesting to dive into! the best album to start with is "architecture and morality" as it's their most popular and most loved in the fanbase, or you can just go in order (or listen to a&m and then go in order; that's what i did).
for the self-promotion part, here is a discord made for the band (please only join if you know the band or like other 80s new wave/synthpop-type bands and want to start listening to them, don't really want random people in it who aren't actually interested in the band lol </3 i hope people can understand!): discord.gg/pBYp73z3tp
furthermore, here's a playlist sort of curated by the server if you'd like to check it out, but i suggest reading the description as i added some notes... i originally made this for a friend of mine bc she was curious but i don't care if other people want to listen as well: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/50oBUX08ijzyhDYlioix5T?si=3140a0d6b7fd4a8d
if you're at least 18 and do like omd/new wave in general, please send me a friend request because i'd love to have more friends on here. i also made a "new wave music" group if anyone's interested in joining: https://groups.spacehey.com/newwavemusic
that's it. bye!
