Taken

Blinded by the glimmering sea
my happy place. Home
A yearning; it beckons in my absence.
Gold silken powder tickles toes
as I wander the shoreline,
waves rushing to greet me
impacting, a sizzling fizz
as it recedes...
soft mediterranean breezes carry
the intoxicating aroma of salted sea weed.
Heading to our tree
the hammock swings nonchalantly,
holding those glorious memories
that now seem like a surreal dream.
That fateful day, you drifted away
upon the Lilo, oblivious...
I awoke with a start, from my sandy slumber
eyes squinting, searching the panorama,
gut tightening in a knotted panic,
running into the ocean,
urgently scanning, as if a radar
Nothing.
Oh the sea rescue team searched,
hardly a crested wave unturned,
but as the weeks passed; the realisation
so had you...
My depths of despair
were beyond the depths that took you...
The ocean withholding so many secrets,
In all its capricious moods
of tranquility and treachery,
The magnetic pull lures, beckoning...
I wade in, longing for your touch to rescue me,
so I can live, breathe again.
The power of the waves swamping me,
I gasp, trying to stay afloat,
drowning in sorrows
until the ocean floor is no more...
