i got new headphones and i almost died in a fatal car crash

convincing title, eh? let's talk about it.

first off, the new headphones. they came in the mail this morning, after all, so it feels right to talk about them first. now, why did i get new headphones? so i was chilling on my computer, bored as hail, when i realized i could stream me playing some games to my boyfriend!

i was prepping for hours, waiting for whenever he was ready, and the MOMENT he was finally able to call... the cable ripped. now if you know anything about gaming headphones, is the fact that for some reason the designers love to keep the cable built-in. so if you fuck up the cable, you just fucked up your ENTIRE headset. this was also a damn old turtle beach one-ear headset made for xbox 360 controllers. so it was about time for an update.

and lo and behold, they appear in front of my house this morning! i immediately ran to my room to try em out, and... WOW. i feel like a caveman who was just exposed to the internet for the first time. you... you mean it's NORMAL for headphones to follow the direction of sound in GAMES?! THAT'S LIKE WITCHCRAFT TO ME!!!!!! these things are AMAZING, and i only got em for 30 smackaroos! that's like nothing for headphones, yet these are exactly what i need. so, i HIGHLY recommend Corsair HS65 SURROUND headphones! they got the icarus approval!

oh yeah, the near death experience. this happened like a week ago now. you know, i reaaaally should update this damn blog more often. my fault, my fault... it's just hard to sit down and type, especially if you feel like shit. but i currently got time restrictions & self-care reminder apps on my phone to really help my evergoing process of getting off the internet. (spacehey doesn't count, it's my blogging space and that is a good way to use the internet)

ANYWAYS. onto the death experience. it was like i was meant to die that fateful day. my boyfriend and i drove up to a far-ish city, and he is usually an incredible driver. but today... something wasn't right. he kept making little mistakes. then... he made the mistake of turning immediately on a yield, right as 1 really fast car zoomed past us, being a centimeter away from smashing into the front of our car. then, as if that wasn't enough, AN ENTIRE 18 WHEELER IS COMING STRAIGHT AT US.

THANK GOD HE WAS ABLE TO STOP.

you know, it was a really weird feeling. if i had died in that moment, i would have never known. nothing clicked into my brain until we pulled over, and even then, my subconscious knew before i did because i randomly started sobbing, and i had no idea why until my boyfriend explained to me what just happened. if i had died in that moment, i would have died completely unaware, happy, looking out the window and cracking jokes with the love of my life. it's a weird feeling to experience.

so, all in all, shit's crazy. and my advice? live life to the absolute fullest, because one day it can all instantly end without you even having a millisecond of awareness that your life is ending.

oh, and listen to a kickass texas alt metal band called bleed. they're amazing. i just discovered them today and i'm listening to their music as i write this. check em out! here. i'll make you.
