Gunslinger Girl disc 1 finished! thoughts so far and stuff!

I finished disc 1 of gunslinger girl which is the first 5 episodes!!!

I'm notr eally the best at writing these but i wanna give it a shot anyway

I really like it so far, I wanna start by talking about that fucking insane opening song, its just so fucking impactful and beautiful, there's this strong hopeless feeling in the way the lyrics are being vocalised, mixed in with those loud hard hitting drums and whatever those other instruments are fjaksdf (im a dummy i kno T_T). It's such an amazing piece, and the visuals included match so perfectly too, especilly the shots of Henrietta holding her violin case, like I'm genuinley amazed by how good it is.
It's one of those OP's that make you know the show is gonna be one of your faves before you even get into it.
If you're not gonna check out the show I'd at the very least say you fucking HAVE TO WATCH THE OPENING IT'S JUST AAAHHH ONE OF THE BEST :P

Anyway the show itself, I love how we get full episodes dedicated to showing the relationship between the girls and their teachers, and how differently everyone operates. Some of the girls are hesistant to follow orders and are way more human, Rico in particular with that boy she met in episode 3, which ended up having a really heartbreaking ending which had me close to tears. She lied about meeting him which in the case of other girls like Henrietta she'd never lie to her teacher, in her case she's obessed with him and will go to extreme and excessive lengths to protect him, which causes all kinds of problems. To start with atleast unlike some other teachers Jose actually cares about Henrietta, sees her as his daughter and genuinley loves her, in contrast to others such as Triela's teacher, who seems develop his caring side towards her overtime and intially comes off as cold and by the books. I feel like giving each duo their time to shine and getting to learn about their backstories and the ways in which they are with each other really makes you care so much more about them.
