Did anyone ask for my thoughts? No. I'm going to subject you to them anyway.
Best Picture: I'm mainly rooting for Killers of the Flower Moon or maybe Poor Things, but I think Oppenheimer, realistically, has the best chances of winning.
Best Actor in Leading Role: Cillian Murphy or Paul Giamatti, for sure.
Best Actress in Leading Role: If it's not Lily Gladstone, I'll be pissed. BUT if it can't be her, then it should be Emma Stone.
Best Actor in Supporting Role: Robert Downey Jr. and with no competition.
Best Actress in Supporting Role: Da'Vine Joy Randolph, for sure.
Best Animated Feature Film: It's between The Boy and The Heron and Spider-man: Across The Spiderverse
Best Cinematography: Killers of the Flower Moon or Oppenheimer. Maybe Poor Things.
Best Costume Design: I'm kind of mixed on this one. I'm hoping for Killers of the Flower Moon, but I can also see Barbie, Napoleon, or Poor Things winning.
Best Directing: I can see Martin Scorsese or Yorgos Lanthimos winning, but I feel like it will most likely go to Christoper Nolan.
Best Documentary Feature Film: I don't know enough about any of the nominees to know for sure, but I have this gut feeling that 20 Days in Mariupol could win.
Best Documentary Short Film: I don't know.
Best Film Editing: Oppenheimer, no doubt.
Best International Feature Film: The Zone of Interest or Society of the Snow
Best Makeup and Hairstyling: Not sure. I want to say it's going to go to Oppenheimer or Poor Things, but it could probably go to Maestro easily.
Best Music (Original Score): Oppenheimer or Killers of The Flower Moon, but I think Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has a good chance, too. John Williams is a legend, you know.
Best Music (Original Song): It's between Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People), I'm Just Ken, or What Was I Made For
Best Production Design: This one is rough. I think it'd be easy to give it to Oppenheimer, but I feel like any of the nominees could get this one and it would make sense. My dad thinks Napoleon should get it.
Best Animated Short Film: I don't know.
Best Live Action Short Film: The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (I love Wes Anderson)
Best Sound: I feel like they'll give it to Oppenheimer, but something in me wants them to give it to Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part 1
Best Visual Effects: It's between Oppenheimer, Napoleon, or Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part 1
Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay): Oppenheimer or Barbie. Barbieheimer, if you will.
Best Screenplay (Original Screenplay): I'm really hoping for The Holdovers
General thoughts: I feel like there could easily be an Oppenheimer sweep. Barbie got less than I thought it would. Killers of the Flower Moon and The Holdovers are near and dear to my heart. Napoleon is a 2 and a half hour long Napoléon Bonaparte loser reel and I love it for that.
