Shit talking books #2

We’re now going to be discussing the Ever popular Icebreaker. This book on a surface level, is a sweet enemies to lovers romance with spice.

Unfortunately, the way I saw it- it’s a book full of porn that is easily accessible to anyone under 12 which is HIGHLY concerning, and it’s so called “Enemies to lovers”, is just a half assed two characters don’t really like each other so they decide to take their sexual frustrations out on each other. Barely even “rivals” they hate each other for three pages.

The plot is non existent because there isn’t even one at all.

One ice rink is down

The characters fuck

Main characters ice skating partner gets their arm injured

Our “hot guy” takes on the role.

The end.

The Main character Anastasia was a solid main character who surprisingly was actually in therapy unlike most Main characters I know, but somehow as the book went on she got more and more annoying to my disappointment. Her love interest, Nate, his whole personality seemed to revolve around being angry and being horny. No in between. The only solid character in this whole book was the antagonist Arron who did an actual good job at being an antagonist that everyone hated.

A side note- a side character Henry who’s getting his own book absolutely infuriated me. Not for the reasons that he kept things a girl may need in his room, made sure they were comfortable and never crossed boundaries. He was just so whiny that it made me stop reading the book altogether.

Great morals? Yes! Great personality? Debatable.

I’m honestly sick of these new books just being constant sex and no connections between any of the characters. We want romance not fucking around. Literally.

However, this is just my interpretation on it, if you liked the character dynamics and themes and such- to each their own, but to me?

I rate it a 4/10. Not worth your time.

P.S. they literally had sex while Nate was dressed as gru from minions. Ick. The main character also nicknamed him ‘bub’.
