when did social media stop being social?

with sites like this emerging and gaining popularity, for me it's easy to reach the conclussion I´m not by far the only one who feels rather drained by how nowaday´s social media is all about flexing and striking a pose rather than helping us link with other humans. Instagram is cool, i love posting silly little pics and getting inspired by other´s people looks, but it feels like we have built certain etiquette around it ,too many rules to interact , if you do this you´re ´weird´ and to sum up it´s like being trapped in a mold, if you step even a liiiitle bit out you'll get dirty stares ; becuase it´s not about expressing yourself anymore. It´s all about the aesthetic. And I´m so tired of my anxiety being raised rather than soothed. I´m not blaiming instagram for my personal insecurities or social akwardness but it does not help at all. Same happens with tiktok , you´re no longer a person online, you´re this much cooler persona.
