Art Blog #3 - Storyboarding

Hey Artists! Welcome to day 3 of my Art Blog!

I don't actually have much to write on this blog right now, haha! I haven't done much with my art since the last post. But I guess I've been getting into animation recently, and one of the main things I've been trying to accomplish is storyboarding!

If you're unsure what storyboarding is, I'll explain! Storyboarding is a visual representation of a film (Or in my case, animation) sequence that breaks down the scene into individual panels. In other words, it's like a short comic strip for your scene. Most animators show each drawing like a slow animation, frame by frame. However, this is not to be confused with animatics!! An animatic is like an advanced version of storyboarding, except that animatics move, while storyboards are single drawings/panels shown one after the other.

Now that's out of the way, I've recently been discovering that... Storyboards are actually pretty hard! It could be because I'm animating on FireAlpacha, (Great art software by the way, I highly recommend FireAlpacha!!) but I've seen MANY beautiful storyboards animated on FireAlpacha!

"Oh, but Waffle, how hard could it be? It's just like drawing a comic!" WELL, storyboards are like the skeletons of animations. They're the base of it all! However, it can get pretty challenging to create one! It can get tough to figure out how you want the scene to play out, how you want the characters to move, and how fast/slow you want the scene to go!

Literally, any part of animation is challenging. But that's what makes them awesome! You could spend days on a 3-minute AMV, and some people take years to make it look perfect! I personally think that's what the beauty of it is. Dedicating so much time and effort to an animation is impressive! I envy those animators who actually get stuff done, 😅

Anyway, I'm sorry this blog wasn't that interesting. I haven't done much since... yesterday, BUT I'm cooking up many art pieces that I'm very excited to show! ... When they're done... Which will take a long time, my attention span is short, haha!

Anyway, thank you for reading until the end, and I'll catch y'all in my next blog!

~ Until next time, Artists!
